Once a project has been assigned to a student, the student can see and complete the project by following these steps:
- Students see projects in two places:
- The projects that are assigned to students are listed when they log in. New projects are marked with the orange "New" banner in the list. The student selects the project name.
- Students can select Projects at the top of the page to see their assigned projects. Students will then see the projects have been assigned to them. Projects with the red project not started icon
haven't been started. Those with the yellow icon showing some progress
have been started, but aren't finished. Those with a green icon that is fully filled in
are finished. The task icons on each project are in the same colors to show you which ones are in progress or finished. To work on a project, the student selects the project.
- Once a project is open, the student can see which project tasks still need work. Tasks with the red icon
haven't been started. Tasks with the yellow icon
have been started, but aren't done. Tasks with the green filled in icon
are done. In the example below, the student has finished reading books about the solar system, has not read the news articles, and has started (but not finished) the writing task. To work on a task, the student clicks it.
Reading Tasks and News Tasks
For reading tasks (for books and news articles), the student clicks an item to start reading it. (For books, you'll see a message telling you whether a book is Not Started, Started, or Finished - see the example above.)
Writing Tasks
For writing tasks, students select Start Writing. Then, they read the instructions and select the Essay Writer tab to begin writing.
Students may also select the Your Journal tab to see the journal entries they made while reading books; these notes may help the student with the writing task. If a peer review of other students' writing is required, students select the Peer Review tab, select another student's writing, and write a review.
When the student has finished working on the Writing Task, the student selects Save in the top right corner. After saving, the student will have new options for the writing task. The student can choose to Continue Writing (if not done) or Turn in Writing if the student has finished the task.
Graphic Organizer Tasks
For Graphic Organizer Tasks, students select the task, then select Start Graphic Organizer.
Next, students read the instructions. When they are ready to begin, they select the tab for the type of graphic organizer they need to complete. In the example below, the student needs to complete an Event Timeline. The student can then enter information about the Graphic Organizer and enter information into it. When the student is done, the student selects Save.
After saving and going back to the project, the student has two options: Continue Graphic Organizer or Turn In Graphic Organizer. When the student has finished work on this task, the student turns it in to complete the work.
All Purpose Tasks
For all purpose tasks, the student simply selects the task and then selects Mark Completed when the task is complete.
Lexile Exam Task
If the project includes a Lexile Exam Task, the student selects the task, then selects Start Exam to start the exam.
