Choosing Your Interests
The first time you log in, the Interest Inventory will open.
Elementary Students
For each category on the page, choose the face that shows how interested you are in that category. When you finish, select Save at the top or bottom of the page.
Older Students
For each category on the page, choose the circle that shows how interested you are in books in that category. The circle farthest to the left shows the least interest; the circle farthest to the right shows the most interest. When you finish, select Save at the top or bottom of the page.
Books in the student's recommended library are based on the student's level of interest in the eleven categories. Interests can always be changed after the initial inventory choices.
Finding Books in the Library
Students can search for books right from the main page using the Search myON field, then select a book that they are interested in the popup results. They can also select the magnifying glass to see the results in the Library.
For more ways to find books, select Library at the top of the myON window. Then, select one of the Library options described below.
Recommended Books
Select Recommended to see books that are recommended to you based on your grade and your Interest Inventory. (Your Star score is also used if it is available.)
You might see a few book ideas at the top of the page. The book shown will change after a few seconds, but you can also use the arrows to see the next or last book.
You will see many categories of recommended books. These might include books in your ZPD (your reading range), top picks, books from special collections, books like ones you have already read, books popular with students in your grade, and books about the topics you chose as interesting to you. Choose the arrow in a row to see more books.
You can select the drop-down list in the "Because I Like" category of recommended books to choose a different category. You may also have a category that lets you choose to see recommended books in a specific language.
