As a teacher, you need to know how to edit student user information, including passwords and user names.
If your district uses Clever or another automated rostering option to synchronize myON students and rosters with your student information system, do not follow these steps to edit user information. Instead, contact your administrator if you have any changes.
If you open myON from the Renaissance Home page or Renaissance Next, you cannot edit student information as described below. Your administrator can edit student information in your Renaissance software.
- At the top of any page, click Classroom, then Students.
- Starting from the My Roster page, there are two ways to edit student information: you can open the edit window on the My Roster page, or you can go to the student page.
Editing Student Information on the My Roster Page
- On the My Roster page, select the pencil icon in the row for a student.
- In the window that opens, you can change the student's first, middle, and last name, grade, ID, user name, and password. In the Groups section, you can also change the groups that the student is in; check a group to include the student in the group, and remove a check mark to remove the student from a group.
- Select Save to save your changes and close the window.
Editing Student Information on the Student Page
- On the My Roster page, enter the name of the student whose user information you want to change. When the student is listed, select the student's name.
- You will see the student's information. Select Edit user. (You may need to use the arrows to scroll to the right so you can see the Edit user tab.)
- Change the information as needed. You can change the first, middle, or last name, grade level, username, password, or ID. On the right side of the page, you can also change the audio setting for the student's book reading (Always On, Always Off, or Weekends Only), and you can see the student's interests. If your subscription uses the Lexile® placement and benchmark tests, you can choose to exempt the student from Lexile benchmark tests until the student has read 25 books.
In the example below, the password was changed. If you change the student's information (not just the audio settings or Lexile Benchmark setting), select Save.
Note: You can make multiple changes (such as the user name and the password) at the same time.
If you log in to myON at myon.com, be sure to use the user names and passwords specified in the student's myON information, not the ones used for other Renaissance software. Student passwords must meet these requirements: 2 characters minimum; can include uppercase, lowercase, number, special character. Special characters may include !"#$%&')(*+,-./:;<=>?@[\]^_`{|}~.
